Voting Papers For Local Elections In the Post from Today

ROTORUA 20.09.13: Over the next few days registered Rotorua voters can expect to receive their voting papers in the post for next month’s local elections.

The programme to deliver approximately 45,600 voting papers to Rotorua residents got underway today (20 September) with distribution being undertaken by New Zealand Post.

Enrolled voters can expect to receive voting papers for positions on the Rotorua District Council, as well as regional council and district health board positions.

There are five candidates for the Rotorua mayoralty, 31 candidates for Rotorua District Council, and six candidates for the council’s Rotorua Lakes Community Board.

Voters are being sent formal voting papers, candidate information booklets, and freepost envelopes for returning voting papers.

Completed voting papers need to be received by noon on 12 October.

Meanwhile special voting begins today at Rotorua District Council’s Civic Centre and continues until the close of voting.

Preliminary voting results for Rotorua District Council positions are expected to be announced some time in the afternoon of 12 October and will be posted on the council website rdc.govt.nz.
