3 News Labour Leadership Poll – Tonight At 6pm
3 News will tonight broadcast a special poll on the Labour leadership contest - the first since the three candidates were
announced two weeks ago.
Conducted by Research Now, the 3 News poll sampled 500 voters from around the country, asking them to name their preferred Labour leader from contenders
David Cunliffe, Grant Robertson and Shane Jones, who have been on a nationwide road show stating their case.
.
3 News Political Editor Patrick Gower says: "This is the first time we get to see what the public think of Cunliffe, Robertson
and Jones. There is a shock result that will make one candidate very happy - and of course, that means another will be
very disappointed."
The poll has been broken down by voting preference, giving important insights into what Labour voters are thinking.
Labour Party members, affiliated unions and Labour MPs all have a vote on who should be leader.
Gower says: "The Labour Party members, MPs and the unions are wondering how their preferred leader will connect with the
public. This poll will help inform them."
The poll also asked which of the three candidates John Key should be most worried about.
Gower says: "Labour's new leader has a simple task - to take on John Key and be seen as an alternative Prime Minister.
That's why we've asked which candidate will worry Key - and there is an interesting result on that."
