DHB Candidate to Attend Cannabis Forum At Dunedin Hospital
Southern District Health Board candidate Julian Crawford will be attending a public forum on Cannabis at the Dunedin Hospital on Friday August 30.
A talk about Cannabis health and legal issues will be held at the Barnett lecture theatre on the first floor of the Hospital from 12 noon to 1.30pm.
Dr Geoff Noller, Dr Gavin Cape, Matthew Peppercorn and Abe Gray will be presenting a "refreshing review of ideas around current cannabis legislation, aspects of mental health and news of New Zealand’s first cannabis (patient) study."
"I will be in the audience to hear about the latest developments in Medical cannabis research," Mr Crawford said.
"I hope this discussion will lead to a partnership between the DHB, University and private sector, to facilitate clinical trials of medical cannabinoids."
The Law Commission called for clinical trials of Medical Marijuana in 2011 after a review of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1975.
