Watch It, Sell it Or Slam It
With Going West Festival ‘13 in full swing tickets, are still available for the next performances of On the Upside-Down
of the World at the Glen Eden Playhouse, starting tonight and running until Saturday 31 August.
“There is something for everyone at Going West. If you aren’t able to make it to the Theatre Season, check out the Book
Market and Poetry Slam on Saturday 7 September,” says Kaye Glamuzina, Auckland Council Manager Arts and Culture.
“Going West is a significant festival in the calendar bringing arts and culture into our everyday lives, so check out
what’s on offer on the council website,” says Ms Glamuzina.
The Going West Book Market on during the day is good to browse, buy or sell rare, unusual or second-hand books as well
as peruse a huge variety of second-hand books.
Heading into the evening, come and join us for Poetry Slam, an opportunity for poets to free those phrases from their
pages and slam it out to an audience who will vote for the best poem of the evening
“The Book Market is a great chance to purchase homemade food, enjoy live music and grab a coffee and peruse what’s on
offer ,” says Andrew Jull, Chairperson, Going West Trust.
He continues, “And for a great Saturday night out for adults, there is nothing better than Poetry Slam where you can
watch some great poets go head-to-head in a convivial atmosphere with wine and food.”
