Ministry funding for 17 local civil defence projects
The Ministry of Civil Defence & Emergency Management has approved funding for 17 local government projects that will improve local and regional civil defence emergency management.
Projects to receive funding are:
1. Northland in partnership with Southland, business continuity planning for small and medium-sized businesses
2. Northland, review of community response plans
3. Northland, community resilience for vulnerable people
4. Northland, Kaipara District Council resilience programme
5. Auckland, further development of smartphone app for web, other mobile and social media
6. Auckland, enhancing Smartphone alerting to allow other regions to join
7. Taranaki, emergency management information system (EMIS) trainer
8. Taranaki, whanau resilience project
9. Taranaki, marae emergency welfare response plan
10. Hawkes Bay, resource for early childhood education
11. Wellington, emergency management information system (EMIS) trainer
12. Nelson-Tasman, Marlborough and West Coast, emergency management information system (EMIS) trainer
13. West Coast, tsunami evacuation zones
14. Canterbury, VHF radios for Kaikoura
15. Canterbury, digital content for public education
16. Canterbury, emergency management information system (EMIS) trainer
17. Otago, identify lifelines vulnerabilities and interdependencies
