Saturday 13th July: Labour Leader David Shearer is under fire once again, amid rumours of a no confidence with his leadership letter being circulated amongst Labour MP’s, led, so the rumours would have us believe, by the likes of Shane Jones, former party president Craig Little and Clayton Cosgrove. The letter has been dismissed as nonsense; however where there is smoke there is always the proverbial fire. The controversy around the man ban fiasco certainly hasn’t helped Shearers cause either.

This week Eruera Morgan speaks with Ngati Porou kaumatua and long time political observer Parekura Kupenga, who offers his assessment of David Shearers performance as Leader of the Opposition to date.

Sunday 14th July: The emergence of the Pakeha Party has raised more than a few eyebrows this week. Founder David Ruck, when asked says he launched the party in response to both the Maori and Mana political parties who Ruck reportedly told the NZ Herald are “racist and create separatism..”

Laughable for those who know better, but these kinds of statements and initiatives create resentment, hatred and unnecessary fear for the majority of New Zealanders who in fact, don’t know any better. People like Ruck prey on their ignorance, the Pakeha Party facebook page alone got 30,000 likes in one day. Eruera speaks with Maori Party co leader Te Ururoa Flavell about his concerns with these kinds of groups and individuals who incite negative emotions preying on people’s ignorance and on occasions already deep rooted racism
