MBIE wins gold at IPANZ Awards
The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) has picked up three awards at last night’s 2013 IPANZ Gen-i
Public Sector Excellence Awards.
MBIE’s Market Services Deputy Chief Executive Greg Patchell has congratulated the teams who have won top awards – the
Intellectual Property Office of New Zealand (IPONZ) for winning the Improving Public Value through Business Transformation category and the Companies Office, who took out the Integrity and Trust award. The Pink is Tough campaign also took out the Poster award for excellence in design of supporting poster.
“MBIE is committed to making it easier for businesses to interact with government. We’re delighted to have had these two
initiatives formally recognised and remain committed to looking for more innovative ways to make life easier for
businesses and individuals who choose to do business with us.”
IPONZ jointly won the Improving Public Value through Business Transformation with the Ministry of Justice. IPONZ moved their processing to 100 per cent online and now offer a world class service
that is client focussed, cost-effective to deliver and provides greater transparency and consistency. An application for
a trade mark or patent may once have taken weeks to complete, can now be done online in a matter of days.
Whilst New Zealand has a good reputation for ease of setting up and doing business, it has attracted overseas
organisations forming New Zealand companies for criminal gain.
Greg Patchell says, “The Companies Office won the Integrity and Trust award for their introduction of an integrity initiative that has seen 6,000 companies removed from the companies
register. This has gone a long way to ensure trust and confidence in the companies register and to protect New Zealand’s
corporate reputation.”
MBIE submitted a total of 10 nominations to the IPANZ awards, with finalists including the ‘Pink is Tough’ campaign (Public Sector Communications) and the joint MBIE/Ministry of Social Development Canterbury Earthquake Temporary Accommodation Service (Working Together for Better Public Services).
