The power of partnership: central and local government working together to rebuild Christchurch

28 June 2013

Local Government New Zealand (LGNZ) today congratulated the Government and the Christchurch City Council for their shared funding of the anchor projects to rebuild Christchurch after the earthquakes.

“This most welcome announcement by the Prime Minister, Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Minister Gerry Brownlee, and Christchurch Mayor, Bob Parker, shows what can be achieved when central and local government work together as partners in the interest of the nation,” said LGNZ President, Lawrence Yule.

“I believe that the people of Christchurch will welcome the news and now it’s time to get on with the job.”
