MEDIA RELEASE: The mixed ownership model: radical sell off or half-baked privatisation?
The New Zealand Initiative will be hosting top economist, Professor Sinclair Davidson, on June 17 in Wellington.
Professor Davidson will analyse how the partial privatisation of state-owned enterprises will affect New Zealanders, the economic gains that might be made, and what we can learn from the current global trends in privatisation.
Professor Davidson argues that questions need to be asked about the asset sales agenda.
“If the partial privatisation of our state-owned enterprises is such a good idea, why are so many people against it? Do privatisations deliver the benefits promised by politicians, and if not, why not?” he says.
