Labour terrorism comments 'outrageous and unacceptable'
Labour's threat to terrorise other candidates in the Ikaroa-Rawhiti By-election is reprehensible and they should apologise for the comments, ALCP candidate Michael Appleby said.
Labour leader David Shearer said in a media release "Labour will campaign relentlessly... We will organise, mobilise and terrorise our political opponents."
Threatening terrorism against opponents is offensive and unacceptable in a democratic by-election and the comments are extremely insensitive to the Tuhoe settlement which occurred today at Parliament.
Mr Appleby was also at parliament today to launch his by-election campaign.
"Shearer's comments are outrageous, offensive and unacceptable in this day and age, especially given his links to mercenaries," he said.
"I do not want to be terrorised just for standing up for my political beliefs."
