Aotearoa Legalise Cannabis Party launch By-Election campaign
The Aotearoa Legalise Cannabis Party (ALCP) is heading to Parliament today to launch its campaign for the Ikaroa-Rawhiti
By-Election.
Lawyer Michael Appleby has been selected by the party to contest the seat left vacant by Labour MP Parekura Horomia.
Mr Appleby will launch his campaign from Parliament at 1pm today, during a protest against synthetic Cannabis.
"I will be making major policy announcement during the campaign which will shake up the race and give me just as much
chance of winning the seat as the other candidates," he said.
"I think this by-election could come down to the wire."
Providing jobs and skill training will be vital to developing the Ikaroa-Rawhiti economy.
"While ALCP has the solution to reducing poverty, unemployment and crime, the other parties continue to pursue failed
policies which don't lead to tangible solutions," Mr Appleby said.
"Other parties spend tax-payer's money by making spending cuts in other areas. Only ALCP will increase the total pool of
funding available for the community."
In the US state of Colorado, the Government has begun using a 25% excise tax on Cannabis to increase funding for
schools.
