Hearings to Begin For Year Two of the Long Term Plan
This week the Waikato District Council will hold hearings and deliberations for Year Two of the Long Term Plan (Annual Plan 2013-14) in the Council Chambers in Ngaruawahia.
Approximately 40 people have requested to be heard by the council, and hearings and deliberations are open to the public.
Some of the key
themes commented on by submitters include:
• the
decrease in the general rate
• funding for road
maintenance
• Disaster Recovery Fund
• grants
and donations
• the forestry targeted rate
•
landing fees at Raglan Aerodrome
•
flouridation
“The council is looking forward to hearing and talking in detail with our residents about their submissions,” Waikato District Mayor Allan Sanson said. “This is an important process in securing the strategic direction for the year ahead, and so getting feedback from the community is vital.”
In total the council received 264 submissions to Year Two of the LTP, and held 10 public meetings across the district. Copies of all the submissions made are available in any council office or library.
The council will respond to all those who made a submission once it has finalised its deliberations. The second year of the Long Term Plan will be formally adopted by in June and takes effect from 1 July 2013.
