Electoral Commission

Enrol By Wednesday 29 May to Make Voting Easier In the Ikaroa-Rāwhiti By-Election

Make voting in the Ikaroa-Rāwhiti by-election on Saturday 29 June as easy as possible by enrolling by next Wednesday.

“You must enrol by Wednesday 29 May to ensure you get your EasyVote pack in the mail,” says Sue Braybrook, Registrar of Electors, Ikaroa-Rāwhiti Electorate. “It will give you all the information you need to vote in the by-election – candidates, voting places and the times they’re open, and of course your EasyVote card.”

Enrolling is quick and easy. Enrolment forms are available from the elections website www.elections.org.nz, by Freetexting your name and address to 3676, from any PostShop or by calling Freephone 0800 36 76 56. People can update their details by filling in a new enrolment form or going online to www.elections.org.nz.

“If you’re not enrolled, or have moved house or flat and haven’t updated your address details with us, you need to re-enrol now,” says Sue Braybrook. “And if you’ve got friends or whānau who aren’t enrolled - now’s a great chance to remind them!”

Only those who are enrolled in the Māori electorate of Ikaroa-Rāwhiti are entitled to vote in the by-election. This includes those living in the Ikaroa-Rāwhiti electorate who are already on the Māori electoral roll, those who enrol for the first time onto the Māori roll, and those who use their Māori Electoral Option choice to change from the General to the Māori roll.
