Government Departments Under the Trans Tasman Microscope Again
 
The Trans Tasman Editors are gearing up to release the 4th Annual 2013 New Zealand Government Department Briefing Report.
 
The annual report takes a critical look at the inner workings of the NZ bureaucracy, and calls on the services of an independent panel of advisers to rate the work of the Departments over the past year across a number of metrics - the performance of the CEO, budget performance and value for money,  quality of service delivery and the overall performance of the Department.
 
The report also announces a Department Of The Year and a CEO Of The Year.
 
This year there have been significant changes this year to make the Report even more of a "must have" document. One example is a new question put to the independent advisers - How successful do you believe the Minister has been in getting the agency to successfully implement their policy agenda?
 
The report focuses on turbulence in the public sector, looking at how the Departments have reacted to changes made by the Government, for example the creation of the super ministry - The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment. It also examines the high turnover of departmental CEOs foreshadowed in last year's influential report and the impact of budget cuts and staff reductions.
 
The report will be available from the 4th of June, but advance orders are being taken now, with significant savings on offer.
