Wellington Central Youth MP
“Young people are scapegoated by the government and the media for what are wider societal issues. With no voting rights
they are in a position where their human rights can easily be breached.”
Queen Margaret College Head Prefect, Jessica Palairet, discusses the issues facing todays’ youth of New Zealand in a
successful bid to represent Wellington Central at the Youth Parliament in July.
Along with a well worded essay on issues facing New Zealand youth, she was called to speak in front of Wellington
Central MP, Grant Robertson and Rongotai MP, Annette King, with two others who were shortlisted.
Jessica is excited to represented Wellington Central as their Youth MP, seeing it as a great opportunity.
