NZEI looks forward to consultation over Novopay debacle
NZEI Te Riu Roa is welcoming the Government’s announcement that it will consult with the education sector over the terms of reference for its review into the beleagured Novopay payroll system.
National President Judith Nowotarski says the terms of reference will be critical to the success of the enquiry and it’s vital that the Ministerial inquiry establishes a process to ensure that there is proper engagement with the education sector.
“Poor engagement with schools over the flawed system is one of the reasons for the shambles in the first place.”
“I hope this inquiry will be an open and transparent process and that it can identify how to resolve the issues as soon as possible.”
“School support staff and teachers have been under an enormous amount of stress and we would hope the Government finds a positive way forward and that includes a suitable compensation package for both schools and staff affected by the shambles.”
“We look forward to discussing the review with the inquiry team over the next few days,” she says.
