Greg King Nominated LawFuel's Lawyer of the Year

King, who died last month at age 43, was widely regarded as one of the best criminal lawyers in the country. But as
LawFuel note, King's unique abilities as a lawyer meant that he extended the debate about the role of law in society in
a manner that extended well beyond the courtroom.
"There were other lawyers like Chapman Tripp's Frank McLaughlin who left his firm and his drawings to enter public
service and Chief High Court Judge Helen Winkelmann who were in close running for this, but at the end of the day we
simply couldn't go pass Greg King and what he did and the impact his career had on the law," said LawFuel publisher John
Bowie.
"There's a degree of sadness, maybe even morbidity in making an award like this but Greg's death has shaken a lot of
people both inside the law and in the community. But beyond that shock his influence and passion for justice and law
continues. He was a one-off, no question" said Mr Bowie.
