‘Whanganui’ To Be Reflected In LINZ Publications and Data
Land Information New Zealand (LINZ) is set to begin updating its electronic databases and hard copy publications to reflect that ‘Whanganui’ and ‘Wanganui’ will shortly be gazetted as alternative official geographic names.
The gazetting of the names follows the passing of the Statutes Amendment Bill (No3) in Parliament today
Electronic databases – including Landonline, Topographic and Hydrographic datasets, the Authoritative Streets and Places (ASP) database, etc – will be updated upon gazetting of the names. Hard copy materials – such as maps and charts – are to be updated at the time of their next publication run.
