Silence Speaks Volumes
Silence Speaks Volumes
The refusal of major security companies to comment on Unite Union’s END INSECURITY campaign launched today speaks volumes for the security industry.
Major companies like First Security, ADT/Armourguard and Rush Security are embarrassed to have their mistreatment of workers put out for public display.
“They are not defending themselves because their practices are indefensible” says Unite Union National Director Mike Treen.
They have no problem running a culture of bullying in their workplaces but are gutless wonders when called to publicly justify their appalling conditions of employment.
No training, insecure hours, low pay, dangerous work, no equipment and no backup are the norm as these companies compete viciously with each other to pay the least and offer the worst conditions of employment.
“It’s a race to the bottom where workers pay a heavy price for an unregulated industry”, says Unite National Director Mike Treen.
The campaign continues tomorrow (6 December) with a community picket at ADT Armourguard at 666 Great South Road at 10am.
