Taskforce Consultation Nets Over 400 Submissions
Over 400 submissions have been made to the Independent Taskforce on Workplace Health and Safety. The Taskforce released
a consultation document in September this year and has been on the road ever since meeting with organisations and
individuals to get as broad a cross-section of views as possible.
“We are tremendously pleased with the response to the consultation document and I would like to acknowledge the time and
effort individuals and companies have put into their submissions,” says Mr Jager.
“Additionally I would thank the around 600 people we met on the road at Hui, Fono, shop floor meetings, focus groups and
public meetings up and down the country.”
Mr Jager says the Taskforce has already begun assessing information provided through the consultation process and will
test its thinking with its network of experts and reference groups over the coming months before beginning to write its
final report to government.
“What is clear is that many organisations and individuals share the same concerns as we do about the state of our
current workplace health and safety system. I also believe there is a groundswell of support for the types of changes we
will almost certainly be recommending in our final report.”
The Taskforce’s final report is due to government on 30 April 2013.
