West Papua: Break the Silence
Saturday 1st December at midday
Corner Manners Mall and Cuba St, Wellington
What other country is closed to international media and does not allow full access to the International Red Cross?
Join us in a visual display of solidarity against the atrocities currently occurring in West Papua, including a small
group pf symbolically bound and gagged individuals. We will assemble at 12 midday on Saturday 1st December at the corner
of Cuba & Manners St, Wellington.
West Papua has undergone brutal colonisation by the Indonesian Government for the last 50 years, with violence and human
rights abuses dramatically increasing in recent months.
In honour of West Papuan Independence Day (Dec 1st) we will call on the NZ Government to break the silence and support
the human rights of West Papuans. We will request that the NZ Government never again send NZ police to train Indonesian
police, whitewashing the ongoing brutal culture in the Indonesian police in West Papua.
We will demand free media access, International Red Cross access and the rights of West Papuan women, men and children
to not be killed and tortured.
