MEDIA RELEASE 10 November 2012
"Under the banner timeforchange.co.nz campaigners for a New Zealand head of State are taking to the streets while Prince Charles is in Aotearoa to discuss
the issue" said Lewis Holden, chair of the Republican Movement.
Prince Charles arrives from Australia tonight and will be greeted with truck-mounted billboards touring the streets of
Auckland and will coincide with a poster campaign in Wellington and Christchurch.
"We need a head of state who in touch with New Zealand, someone relevant and politically neutral who will chosen by New
Zealanders
and can represent us all. Charles seldom visits and his wife has never even been here before. They are not New
Zealanders - they're foreign diginitaries" said Mr Holden.
"Our campaign focuses attention on our head of State and asks voters whether they think it is time for a New Zealander
to be our next head of State.Having an undemocratic fly-in fly-out head of State is clearly not working for New Zealand"
concluded Mr Holden.
