Billboards Not Bombs
The Republican Movement will be using billboards not flour bombs to campaign for an elected head of State during Prince
Charles tour next month.
"We will be out and about with a poster and billboard campaign promoting an independent, elected New Zealander as our
next head of State" said Lewis Holden, chair of the Republican Movement.
In yesterday's Herald on Sunday, two fringe demonstrators - Kerry Bevin and Jack Geilan - state that they want to flour
bomb Prince Charles. The two men are all that remains of the now deregistered Republican Party, a tiny group largely
made up of men's rights demonstrators.
"We state in the strongest possible terms that Mr Bevin and Mr Geilan are not, have not and never will be connected to
our campaign. Their actions only hurt support for a New Zealander as our head of State" continued Mr Holden.
The Republican Movement asks that the news media be wary of these two men. Their public behaviour - such as flag burning
and flour bomb throwing - is totally unacceptable and is no way to convince New Zealanders of the need to improve our
head of State.
"Our campaign will be humourous, but focused on an important issue. We will raise the standard of the head of State
debate, not lower it" concluded Mr Holden.
