Recycle & Earn Karma!
LOVE NZ launches an innovative campaign to get more bottles, cans and containers in bins nationwide.
Love NZ has kicked off a six week campaign called “It’s a Karma Thing” to encourage Kiwi’s to recycle their drink and food containers into Love NZ recycling bins situated nationwide.
Everyone who ‘does the right thing’ and recycles into the right public bin can register to win cool prizes in an online auction.
The campaign is brought to life in a video featuring DJ Jay Reeves.
http://video.web-vision.co.nz/player.php?p=ujuz24uw. “We all know how Karma works...do good things and good things will come back to you. All you need to do is download the ‘It’s a karma thing’ app, scan the QR codes at the Love NZ bins and you’ll get Karma Kredits which you can then redeem for awesome prizes. So remember look for the Love NZ bins when you are out and about and recycle your cans and bottles. It’s that simple,” says Jay.
There’s also plenty of local council support for the “It’s a Karma Thing” campaign. 26 regions have been involved to date in Love NZ public place recycling initiatives which are funded by the Government’s Waste Minimisation Fund, local authorities and industry. Almost all are involved in the Karma campaign too. In the past 2 years Love NZ’s programmes have more than doubled the number of Love NZ permanent recycling bins nationwide to over 1000 and added 2000 mobile event recycling bins which can be used in sports stadia, concert venues and other public arenas. Now it’s time to increase people’s awareness of where the bins are and to encourage Kiwi’s to regularly use them.
Nicky Wagner, MP for Christchurch Central and Chair of the Love NZ Board is an enthusiastic supporter of Love NZ’s “It’s a Karma Thing” campaign. “Last year the Rugby World Cup acted as a catalyst to put the infrastructure in place for recycling and we recycled an enormous amount during the tournament. In just six weeks over 15 million bottles, cans, plastic bottles and cartons got recycled. However even with recycling bins at the stadiums during the Rugby World Cup people still left their drinks bottles on the floor to be collected by cleaning staff. We hope “It’s a Karma Thing” will incentivise New Zealanders to look for the Love NZ recycling bins and put their bottles and cans in them so it becomes a way of life, just as we recycle at home.”
The campaign is championed by Coca-Cola Amatil NZ, Trade Me, Vodafone, The Warehouse and Countdown with support from councils and venues across the country. Companies have donated prizes including electronics, phones, BBQ’s, travel, entertainment and food vouchers.
The campaign runs until 3rd December. For more information and to redeem your Karma Kredits go to KARMATHING.CO.NZ.
