Decentralised occupations nationwide!
Occupy New Zealand is pleased to announce their participation in the GlobalNOISE solidarity day of action against austerity alongside over 200 cities worldwide, on October 13, 2012.
GlobalNOISE utilises the "pots and pans" methodology behind the successful 2010 Icelandic revolution, and more recently, the Canadian student movements, to draw attention to the serious issues facing us today, and the urgent need for profound societal change.
Occupy New Zealand ask all peoples of Aotearoa to occupy any location of their choosing, be it urban or rural, high-profile or low-profile, or even mobile!
Please capture footage of your occupation on video, cameras, or with your words, and share your work on the Occupy pages. Become the media!
Occupy New Zealand will be live-tweeting on the Twitter hashtags #O13 #13O & #GlobalNOISE - if you have a Twitter account you can tweet about yours too! Occupy New Zealand’s Twitter network will carry your messages around the globe.
Due to the dateline New Zealand will be the first country in the world experiencing #O13. The whole world will be watching.
The length of time you occupy for, and under what terms, are entirely your own to decide. Occupy New Zealand seek only to spread the idea; not to control it.
Please join this innovative, first-of-its-kind action, to celebrate the birthday of the Occupy movement in New Zealand and to express your solidarity with peaceful, democratic, anti-austerity protesters across the planet.
