Aotearoa Is Not For Sale - Action Today

Pressure applied to the government's corporate allies.

Aotearoa Is Not For Sale Wellington will meet 1pm today at Midland Park before conducting a 'flash occupation' to the offices of another beneficiary of the Government's planned sell-off of state-owned energy companies.

Spokesperson for the day Richard McIntosh said, "These people need to know how we feel about these corporates taking millions of our tax dollars to sell our property, the state assets. 'Corporate welfare' would be a kind way to put it. 'Troughing' is probably a fairer way of describing their behaviour."

Clemenger is one of a handful of companies who will be assisting the government's planned asset sales. Last month law firm Bell Gully and advertising agency Clemenger also recieved visits from the group, who moved throughout the office distributing a message 'on behalf of the public of New Zealand'. When asked to leave the group refused and began to sing songs such as "We're Gonna Stop Those Asset Sales" written especially for the occaision.

"The managers of these corporates haven't a clue what to do when this kind of thing happens. They would be very content to take our millions and hide away from the public but the message is clear: helping this government sell our state assets is bad behaviour and it needs to be exposed."

Aotearoa Is Not For Sale Wellington's demands are simple: commitment by all political parties to put an end to the silly idea of generating income by selling the infrastructure of the country; and the retention in public ownership of the state assets.

McIntosh, "These power companies are our national security. They need to be firmly under the control of New Zealand, for the benefit of all New Zealanders."
