Message to the New Zealand Petroleum Summit 2012
Message to the participants of the New Zealand Petroleum Summit 2012
My message to the participants of the New
Zealand Petroleum Summit 2012, is you are part of a dinosaur
industry that face its twilight years.
We condemn the criminal destabilisation of our atmosphere to the point where extremes cover 10 times the area of of 50 years ago, where one in a 100 year droughts are now the norm, where floods extend beyond the boundaries of major countries.
We reject the waste of ancient sunlight that feeds the rapacious appetite of the consumer lifestyle and a disconnected industrialised agricultural system
We celebrate our rivers, our forests and our great seas. We celebrate the water cycle that carries moisture from our great oceans to our inland hills and valleys.
Our message to Energy Minister Phil Heatley, Stop selling us short, stop mortgaging our future, stop overheating our planet.
We celebrate the sunlight that follows night, we celebrate the wind that carries the warmth of the tropics to the poles We celebrate the diversity of life, its complex eco-systems and a climate that has allowed human sapiens to flourish.
Today is the day when we, and you, must begin planning for a post carbon economy.. when we, and you, must start supporting a localised economy employing people sustainably living within their footprint
Our message to Energy Minister Phil Heatley, Stop selling us short, stop mortgaging our future, stop overheating our planet
