Spotlight On Housing Week
23-28 September 2012
How healthy is my house, what can I do about my rental problems, how can I get into a rental property, what are the chances of home ownership, how can I cut down my power bills? These are some of the key questions that Spotlight On Housing will provide information and advice on plus any other housing-related issues from Sunday 23rd to Friday, 28th September.
Housing is an increasing issue in Auckland with many families struggling to find sustainable, healthy housing. Just finding a rental, let alone getting into home ownership is becoming more difficult. A group of West Auckland based organisations are getting together for the third year to raise awareness and knowledge around anything and everything to do with housing.
Information kiosks will be located in key places around the west starting with the Avondale market on Sunday morning and finishing in the Massey market on Friday evening then in different areas each day, outside the New Lynn Library, Ranui Baptist Community Facility (at the church), Glenmall outside Pet Shop Boyz and the Henderson train station airbridge. The kiosks will be staffed by different member organisations of the Waitakere Housing Call to Action including people with legal, tenancy, healthy housing and budgeting expertise.
Free cupcakes, a sausage sizzle, soup, face painting and other giveaways plus games to play, will all help make Spotlight on Housing Week an enjoyable as well as an informative experience.
