Huge Line Up of Speakers at Liberty Conference 2012

Libertarianz President Shane Pleasance today released the line up of feature speakers for Liberty Conference 2012, being held at Crowne Plaza Hotel on Albert Street, Auckland, October 6. Mr. Pleasance said today, “Our fantastic feature of Conference speakers guarantees that Liberty Conference will not only be historic politically but also thoroughly entertaining!”

Following the President’s and Leader’s addresses in the morning, we will be featuring cannabis law reform advocate Dakta Green. Mr. Green has fought for individual liberty for many years and faced direct oppression by Government drug warriors as a result. In 2008, Dakta opened the Daktory, a cannabis dispensary and was subsequently arrested. In June 2011, he was sentenced to 23 months in prison for cannabis supply. Shane Pleasance says, “We are delighted that Dakta has agreed to speak at Liberty Conference and hope he will continue to be a major feature in the future of the pro-liberty movement.”

In the middle of the day, the stage will go to one of New Zealand’s foremost advocates of liberty, Lindsay Perigo. Mr. Perigo was the first leader of the Libertarianz party and led it to its best result in 1999. He was also editor of Free Radical magazine and host of Radio Pacific’s Politically Incorrect Show from 1996 to 2001. In the last decade Lindsay has worked as a political editor for Radio Live and Prime Television. More recently he hosted a interview television show on Stratos before working for the Act Party, writing Don Brash’s infamous cannabis speech. “Lindsay Perigo has been a bastion of the liberty movement for decades and it is an honour to have him address Liberty Conference 2012.”

Prior to the conference workshop on the forming of a new local body political party, the conference will be addressed by Cameron Slater, notorious blogger of Whale Oil. Slater has had a history of holding political and judicial personalities to account, especially Winston Peters and Trevor Mallard. Most recently he has set his sights on Len Brown and the Auckland City Council. “Cameron is one of those who have identified the immediate need for a new local level political party in Auckland and we are very keen to hear his vision for how the Super City Council should operate.”

Liberty Conference 2012 will be the launching pad for new liberal movements in New Zealand at both national and local body level. To be part of political history, register to attend and make submissions at www.libertarianz.org.nz/conference-2012/
