Enliven Maximising Independence – PSN offers Kiwi Post Accident Support
Enliven, Presbyterian Support Northern (casing the upper north island) is pleased to be one of six providers, to win the ACC tender of home and community based care for accident rehabilitation – this new service is called Maximising Independence.
From September 1, Maximising Independence goes live. Why PSN has been chosen out of 44 tender applicants to win this home and community care service has been credited by CEO Dr. Rod Watts as a NZ organisation with strong values and high capability. This combined with a service consistently demonstrating high quality means achieving results for clients. “We have highly qualified staff, strong teamwork, supervision of front line staff by qualified registered heath professionals, multi – disciplinary and culturally sensitive practices,” he says. Enliven also has sustained robust client feedback through its RBA (Results Based Accountability) process that is extremely favourable.*
Enliven Maximising Independence is a service provider that is:
• A New Zealand organisation, with a long history (125 years) of community services
• Not for Profit
• Strong Values, such as integrity, compassion, social justice
• Providing Direct Care - Enliven is the only lead provider not outsourcing service provision
• Leading Edge– Enliven pioneered restorative home and community based care
• Client Centric - tailor made individualised client care provided at home, at work or in the community
• Inclusive – support is provided to anyone eligible for ACC support, regardless of age, culture, or religion
• Proven provider of positive outcomes – Enliven’s results based accountability results testify to the provision of high quality services that meet individual needs

According to Dr. Watts, the ‘kiwi for kiwi’ provision of support is a real draw card for Enliven Maximising Independence. “There seems to be the beginning of what might become a trend in contracting large organisations who operate as a supply chain, and don’t provide services directly to clients, but manage the process, including sub-contracting organisations to deliver the client services. These large organisations are more often than not international companies, who bring economies of scale. However, it remains to be demonstrated that this results in improved services and outcomes, “he says. “What we know from our Results Based Accountability results is that being client-centric and using our own qualified internal staff for the provision of support has created a proven track record of success.” “We’re thrilled to be able to extend our unique approach to working alongside people; inspiring hope and assisting those who we support through our service reach their goals”.
On March 1, ACC announced it would release its 80+ home and community support providers for post-accident home support, for a newly selected six, for an equal total of regions. The service is for those who are injured and require both short and long term support (seriously injured) at home, work and in the community. ACC indicates the move is to offer an enhanced model of care, to improve quality and gain better outcomes.
Enliven submitted a comprehensive tender, one of 44 which ACC received and was shortlisted to 22. The outcome was the selection of six lead providers, consisting of four nation-wide providers and two regional providers, including PSN’s Enliven which will be providing services in the Auckland and Bay of Plenty/Waikato regions. *RBA (Results Based Accountability) measures outcomes from a client perspective through a comprehensive client survey .
