Gregory Fortuin a Welcome Addition to the Justice Coalition

Gregory Fortuin a Welcome Addition to the Justice Coalition

“Gregory Fortuin’s appointment as Executive Chairman of Prison Fellowship, is a welcome and colourful addition to Justice Coalition”. says Kim Workman, spokesperson for the Justice Coalition, a collective of 12 Justice Sector NGO’s. Mr Fortuin will represent Prison Fellowship on the Coalition.

“Ten years ago, I persuaded Gregory to take up a position on the Prison Fellowship Board. As a member of the ANC, and one of Nelson Mandela’s supporters, we figured that he would care about both the plight of prisoners and victims of crime. We were right on both counts.”

“Gregory has already made a considerable contribution to the nation’s wellbeing . He has served as a Race Relations Conciliator, a Families Commissioner, is currently on the Board of Whitereia and Wellington Polytechnics, and chairs Streets Ahead for at risk youth in Porirua.”

“What sets Gregory apart however, is his commitment to the underdog and the marginalised of our nation – the least, the lost and the lonely. He will bring into the Justice reform arena, a determination to respect and acknowledge tangata whenua, and ensure that is followed through in our policies, processes and strategies. But he will do it in an inclusive and collaborative way.”

“Gregory insists on making complex issues understandable to people on the street. He often asks the question, “Would my mother understand this?”

“We’re excited by his appointment, and look forward to Prison Fellowship developing and growing under his leadership. “
