Save TVNZ7 Announces Flurry Of Activity
TVNZ 7 has less than ten days to go. On July 1st New Zealand will be without a public service television channel for the first time since TV began in this country. We may not be able to save TVNZ 7 but we aren’t letting it pass unnoticed.
Save TVNZ 7 have four public meetings across Auckland over the next few days, a march in Wellington on the 28th to present the petition (more than 31,000 signatures), and a march in central Auckland on the 30th of June to mark the last day of transmission.
North Shore meeting
Tomorrow (Fri) Bomber Bradbury will “moderate” a panel of Labour MP Phil Twyford, Greens Broadcasting Spokesperson Julie Anne Genter, NZ First MP Andrew Williams and media expert Trisha Dunleavy from VUW. Trisha grew up in Takapuna and is flying up specially for the meeting.
Friday 22 June, 7-9pm, Milford Bowling Club, 20 Commodore Parry Rd, Castor Bay, North Shore.
Orewa meeting
On Sunday afternoon it’s an Orewa meeting of a different kind as Bomber Bradbury moderates Darien Fenton (Labour), Julie Anne Genter (Greens), Tracey Martin (NZ First) and Wayne Hope (AUT).
Sunday 24 June, 4-6pm, Orewa Community Centre, 368 Hibiscus Coast Hwy, Orewa.
Manukau meeting
On Monday evening we coming southside with Bomber Bradbury moderating Clare Curran (Labour), Julie Anne Genter (Greens) and Dr Peter Thompson (VUW)
Monday 25 June, 7-9pm, Wiri Community Hall, 11 Inverell Avenue, Wiri.
West Auckland meeting
And the last public meeting is on Tuesday in the foothills of the Waitakeres. Bomber Bradbury moderates Phil Twyford (Labour), Wayne Hope (AUT) and Barry Wilson (ex-BBC and TVNZ reporter).
Tuesday 26 June, 7-9pm, Oratia Settlers Hall, 569 West Coast Road, Oratia.
Previous meetings have been lively, insightful and packed so come along, sign the online petition (www.savetvnz7.co.nz) and show your support for public service television.
Media are welcome to attend
