1000 days to get it right for every child: Partnerships vital

The second event in the Every Child Counts-BusinessNZ discussion series will take place at Te Papa at 7pm on Thursday 12 July, with a strong focus on partnerships between communities and business.

“There is a growing recognition that the issues affecting children should be the concern of all New Zealanders. Many of these issues are beyond the scope of families alone to tackle - including solo parenting, financial insecurity, difficulties in school, and young people ending up ill-equipped to contribute in the workplace. Families, communities, business and government all have a part to play in addressing these issues,” says Phil O’Reilly, CE of BusinessNZ.

“There are some exciting developments taking place in corporate social responsibility and business involvement in community-led development. We want to highlight the superb work some businesses are doing, and challenge others to step up. There is enormous power in partnerships between non-governmental organisations, businesses and government,” says Liz Gibbs, Chair of Every Child Counts.

The Every Child Counts-BusinessNZ discussion series brings together some the nation’s leading businesspeople, child advocates and thought-leaders to explore what can be done. The media and the public are invited to join in the discussion as follows:
