Elderly Let Down by Budget – NZ First
New Zealand First says New Zealanders cannot afford to get old and sick after the Government failed to include new funding for Aged Care.
Health spokesperson Barbara Stewart says the elderly have been ignored in the Budget which failed to provide any extra funding to ensure the elderly are properly cared for.
“The elderly is the fastest growing sector of society. Failure to include a boost in funding leads them down a one-way road to nowhere but misery.”
Mrs Stewart says the Government also ignored in the Budget the obesity epidemic which is sweeping the country.
“By ignoring this problem they are condemning a significant portion of the population to a life blighted with diabetes.
“Quite simply, that’s not good enough,” says Mrs Stewart.
