Has The Trade Union Movement Run Its Course?
Has The Trade Union Movement Run Its Course?
Given that less than 10% of private sector employees belong to trades unions, can we assume that unions are no longer necessary to the degree that they once were?
If the on-going role for unions is to negotiate for beneficial conditions for members on a case-by-case basis, are they doing so in a climate of “good faith”. Can we who are onlookers see any good faith underneath the spin-doctored and sloganized media utterances of all of the disputing parties?
This week's guest In Conversation with Noel Cheer on Triangle Television is Professor Bill Hodge who belongs to that part of society that puts its faith in impartial referees to untangle the knots that ensnare negotiating parties.
