New Council Long Term Plan Released For Consultation

Hutt City Council’s long term plan has been opened for public discussion.

Mayor Ray Wallace said the community voice was important and the plan provided an opportunity for ratepayers and residents to have their say about the future of the city.

“Our council has worked hard to achieve the lowest average rate rise in the region,” he said. “We are very sensitive to the current economic climate and that many people are struggling.

“Council is seeking feedback on proposals for a new vision for the city to provide a platform for future growth and development.

“We are also looking at stimulating further business activity and encouraging development within the city.

“This is a plan that looks to decisions that will manage future needs of the city,” he said.

Copies of the plan are available on the Hutt City Council website and questionnaires can be completed online at www.huttcity.govt.nz/longtermplan.

Copies of the plan are also available through the city libraries or the council building in Laings road.

Submissions close on 16 May 2012.
