More Bridges To Cross

The Government’s new rising star, Tauranga MP, Simon Bridges admits that he is ambitious.

Mr Bridges this week became at 35 the Government’s youngest Minister when he was made a Minister outside Cabinet.

Asked today on TV3’s “The Nation” whether he could be Prime Minister one day, Mr Bridges said: “I would say and I think it's true, many of my colleagues say I am ambitious.”

“I don’t shy away from that, “he said.

“I've never made a secret of the fact that I do want to be a Cabinet Minister, and in many senses the position I'm in now is an audition for that.”

Asked again whether potentially, one day, he might be leader he said: “I think at this stage while I'm walking not running, sort of making those kind of claims is probably a ridiculous one, but I am ambitious.”
