POAL Comment Following Today’s Mediation
POAL Comment Following Today’s Mediation
Ports of Auckland Limited attended mediation today. The Company has again advised that any return to work of MUNZ members immediately is unrealistic and can’t be finalised until all health and safety requirements are met.
The POAL Board will need to sign off on any plan as the responsibility for the health and safety of workers ultimately rest rests with them.
These matters will be discussed tomorrow in the Employment Court.
Ports of Auckland Ltd is New Zealand’s most important port, handling around 894,000 TEU (20ft-equivalent units), more than 1,500 ship calls and 3.5 m tonnes of break-bulk (non-containerised) cargo per annum.
