Charities and Churches Line Up to Grab State Assets

The lollie scramble between the property developers, vested interest trusts, charities and churches versus the state house tenants (who have a legal right to live in peace and quiet enjoyment) has transformed our once livable community (Tamaki) into a ugly battleground of the land grab.

It would be appreciated if Housing New Zealand’s Sean Bignall, would substantiate who is spreading misinformation and causing tenants to feel scared, intimidated and stressed.

Long-term existing state house tenants are very stressed that they are being turned into unwanted transients. Some are so stressed they are experiencing serious health issues because of this anxiety. Many homeowners of this area are also very concerned that their neighbors and friends are being replaced with intensive housing.

To date the only people who seem to have direct access and contact with the effected tenants and their details are the potential private sector providers. To our knowledge the tenant support group (Tamaki Housing Group) have had no direct contact with any of the effected tenants, other than those who willingly attend meetings, we do not have access to tenants personal information.

Tenants should however be very wary of private sector providers - they are competing with the state tenants over state owned resources.
