Kaumatua Unite! Vote For Annette Sykes
TE ARIKI MOREHU
Te Arawa and Mataatua kaumatua Te Ariki Morehu is calling upon all kaumatua within Waiariki to vote for Annette Sykes.
Morehu says he has never met someone who is so committed to improving the lives of Maori.
"Annette, a daughter of Te Arawa, has a long history of advocating for our people and she would be brilliant in Parliament to represent the interests of Waiariki.
"Not too many people may know this, but Annette constantly seeks my counsel and advice from other kaumatua on issues of importance to our people.
"She has been and will continue to listen to her people."
Morehu, who was awarded the New Zealand Order of Merit in June this year and who is a life member of the Maori Wardens and former member of Te Kohanga Reo National Trust, says Annette is well grounded in tikanga and Te Reo and has made a lifelong commitment to ensuring values and principles of Te Tiriti, Te Reo me ona Tikanga are recognised and acknowledged.
"Kaha k a Annette i roto i na mahi katoa, kei te tautoko ahau i taku tamahine," Te Ariki says.
"I was behind her nomination to stand, with her at her launch at Houmaitawhiti and I will be there beside her when she goes to Parliament"
