Ikaroa Rawhiti Election Debate – Live On Maori Television
NATIVE AFFAIRS – KOWHIRI 11 will broadcast live from Gisborne Boys High School for its fourth live debate from the Maori electorates on Wednesday, 9 November at 9.00pm.
Hosted by Julian Wilcox, the special election series takes politics to the people of Ikaroa Rawhiti for a live debate between Labour’s Parekura Horomia, Mana’s Tawhai McClutchie and the Maori Party’s Na Raihania.
The three key candidates will debate issues affecting the region including mining in the Raukumara Basin, iwi settlements and unemployment as well as the cost of living and family violence during the hour-long debate.
NATIVE AFFAIRS – KOWHIRI 11 is the only national current affairs programme that will broadcast live from each of the seven Maori electorates in a series of “town hall” debates.
The “town hall” debates screen on Mondays at 8.30pm and Wednesdays at 9.00pm in the build up to polling day. The next debate takes place in Kaikohe for Te Tai Tokerau on Monday, 14 November.
