TE TAI HAUAURU ELECTION DEBATE – LIVE ON MAORI TELEVISION
Maori Party co-leader Tariana Turia will face her competitors in Maori Television’s live debate between key candidates
standing for the Te Tai Hauauru seat, on Wednesday, 2 November at 9.00pm.
NATIVE AFFAIRS – KOWHIRI 11, Maori Television’s special election series, will broadcast the debate from St Mary’s Church Hall in Whanganui in front
of a live public audience.
The hour-long programme features candidates Jack Tautokai McDonald (Green), Soraya Peke-Mason (Labour), Frederick
Timutimu (Mana) and incumbent Tariana Turia (Maori).
Hosted by Julian Wilcox, NATIVE AFFAIRS – KOWHIRI 11 will examine issues at a local level in each of the seven Maori electorates.
Key topics for Te Tai Hauauru include the Maori Party coalition with National, gas and mineral exploration, Whanau Ora
and unemployment.
NATIVE AFFAIRS- KOWHIRI 11 is the only national current affairs programme that will broadcast live from each of the seven Maori electorates in a
series of “town hall” debates.
The “town hall” debates screen on Mondays at 8.30pm and Wednesdays at 9.00pm in the build up to polling day. The next
debate takes place in Rotorua on Monday, 7 November.
