East Coast Candidate Announced
Colin Craig, Leader of the Conservative Party announced today that Kathy Sheldrake will be the local candidate for the East Coast electorate.
Kathy has spent nine years on the Gisborne District Council, and currently serves on the Tairawhiti District Health Board.
The high-polling councillor is well known for being proactive in getting people in her community moving, and for her efforts to fund local cycle and walk ways.
“Kathy is a top candidate” says Mr. Craig, “she is a proactive thinker who will rank highly on our party list”.
Born and raised on a hill country farm in the Matawai District, Kathy has lived in and around Gisborne most of her adult life.
She has travelled extensively for the sport of Triathlon with her husband Terry, who is on the International Triathlon Union Board.
Kathy is well known to many kiwi families, for her involvement in the running of the Weetbix Kiwi Kids Triathlon for over a decade. She is involved in her community as a Rotary member, Justice of the Peace, and past President of the Business and Professional Women’s Club among other things.
“I’m very pleased to be part of The Conservative Party, and look forward to making a real difference for our community and country”.
The Conservative Party list will be announced in full next week.
