The Alliance Party has announced four more electorate candidates for the 2011 general election.
These candidates will join Alliance Party candidate for Wigram, Kevin Campbell, whose candidacy was announced recently (http://www.kevincampbell.org.nz)
Alliance
Party co-leader Kay Murray is the 2011 candidate for the
Alliance in Dunedin South.
She previously stood in the electorate in 2008.
Ms Murray works as programmes manager for Connections Centre, a centre that provides activity based programmes for adults with intellectual and physical disabilities.
She has been a strong advocate in the campaign to save jobs at Hillside rail workshops against National’s free trade policies (http://kiwiwagons.wordpress.com), and is a spokesperson for the Tax Justice campaign to remove GST from food and introduce a financial transactions tax (http://nogstonfood.org).
Victor
Billot is the 2011 candidate for the Alliance in Dunedin
North.
Mr Billot works as national communications officer for the Maritime Union of New Zealand, and has stood in the electorate in the previous two general elections.
He has been actively involved in local Dunedin issues and groups, including Unions Otago, as the spokesperson for the Dunedin campaign against post office closures, and the stop the stadium movement, due to his concerns about city service cuts and asset sales due to unsustainable debt.
Mary
O’Neill is the 2011 Alliance candidate in the Napier
electorate.
Ms O’Neill was born in Europe, and is a New Zealand Citizen.
She was the Alliance Tukituki campaign manager in 2008.
Ms O’Neill has been active in her community as a committee member at the St Demetrios Parish, the Heretaunga Women’s Centre, and Hawkes Bay Gemstone and Lapidary Club, is the editor of a doll magazine, and has published a book on South Pacific shells.
Kelly
Buchanan is the 2011 candidate for the Alliance in the
Wellington Central electorate.
Kelly was born in Wellington and has lived in the region almost continuously ever since. She has previously stood as an Alliance candidate in Wellington electorates.
Ms Buchanan works as a software developer, and in her spare time she runs a small publishing company.
The Alliance Party list will be
announced this week.
