British Prime Minister regrettably cancels trip to New Zealand

24 October 2011

The British Prime Minister, David Cameron has cancelled a visit to New Zealand to attend a European Council meeting this Wednesday in Brussels.

The Council meeting has been called to discuss the growing debt crisis in the Eurozone. Downing Street has said that because of this "regrettably trips to Japan and New Zealand have had to be cancelled".

The visit would have been on Wednesday and Thursday this week before the British Prime Minister attended the CHOGM meeting in Australia.

The visit to New Zealand would have included talks with the New Zealand Prime Minister John Key and a visit to Christchurch's red zone to see the progress over the city's reconstruction.
