Mana: The Party of Bribery and Corruption
Tamaki Independent candidate Stephen Berry is appalled at the Mana party’s bottom feeding attempts to get votes this
election. “Their policy is quite simple; pass out money for nothing to all those who make a career out of leeching off
the unemployment benefit and produce nothing but children they cannot feed.”
“The Mana party has adopted the lowest form of tactics to gain support with their plan to increase payments for
beneficiaries of all sorts, including a one off payment of $1000 for all people earning under $30,000 a year this
Christmas whether working or unemployed.”
Stephen Berry says this demonstrates the sheer financial ignorance of anybody who is associated with or would vote for
the Mana party. “Mana has given no costing for their policies, though the $1,000 grant will obviously cost hundreds of
millions of dollars. Mana gives no plan to reverse the $18 billion Government deficit. Mana does nothing but offer a
blatant bribe to those who are most likely to appreciate it, the hundreds of thousands who lie on the couch in front of
the TV for a living.”
Other policies released by Mana today include setting benefits above levels in 1991 and giving the Work Tax Credit to
beneficiaries. “Why the hell should beneficiaries get a work tax credit? They don’t do any work and their entire income
comes from taxes! This is as ridiculous as Mana’s edict that the culture of Work & Income should be changed so that all those using the department’s services are treated with dignity and respect. There
is no dignity in living off the labour of others and it certainly does not deserve any respect. That also applies to
anyone who works for a department distributing other people’s money to parasites.”
Stephen Berry’s policy to deal with poverty is based on less Government, less welfare and incentives for people to work.
• Eliminate the minimum wage to reduce unemployment
• Make the first $15,000 earned each year tax free
• Set cut off dates for the issuing of new unemployment and domestic purposes benefits
• Make housing more affordable by selling off the state housing system, abolishing the Resource Management Act and
slashing the size of local government to reduce rates
• Widespread cuts to the size of the state, reducing Government expenditure and making possible a massive reduction in
the company tax rate
• People in genuine need will be able to access private welfare; the bludgers will have to find a job
