SPADA Supports Government’s Reduction In SPRF Threshold
The industry organisation representing independent screen producers, SPADA, welcomes the Government’s announcement today lowering the Qualifying New Zealand Production Expenditure (QNZPE) threshold for feature films from $4 million per production to $2.5million.
“The reduction in the Screen Production Incentive Fund (SPIF) threshold will result in more feature films and provide more opportunities for New Zealand filmmakers to complete their projects,” said SPADA Chief Executive Penelope Borland. “In the current climate of fiscal restraint the local screen industry is coming up with some very interesting projects that this drop in the SPIF threshold will enable them to bring to fruition. It will also further support the local screen industry’s ability to become more sustainable.”
