Compendium of Inter-Parliamentary Relations reports presented
The annual Reports of the Official Inter-Parliament Relations Programme 1 January – 15 September 2011, which includes reports on members of Parliament’s engagement in the Official Inter-Parliamentary Relations Programme, has been tabled in the House by Speaker Dr The Rt Hon Lockwood Smith.
“The inter-parliamentary relations programme provides members with a unique opportunity to engage with other parliamentarians on a diverse range of issues affecting the global community, as well as opportunities for members’ professional development,” Dr Smith said.
“This is the third year this report has been produced. It is an excellent way for members to share the knowledge they gain with the public.”
The Official Inter-parliamentary Relations Programme seeks to improve relations between the New Zealand Parliament and other parliaments internationally by an established programme of incoming and outgoing visits that provide professional development opportunities for New Zealand members of Parliament; assistance to build capacity of the Pacific Islands parliaments; and support New Zealand’s contribution on global issues at international parliamentary organisations.
