Kiwis to join 'the most important international civilian initiative since Dunkirk'
A group of four Kiwis will soon take part in an historic international mission that could become a major turning point
towards peace in Palestine.
Kia Ora Gaza spokesperson, Roger Fowler said the Kiwi group will join the Viva Palestina international aid convoy in
December, which will "link up with the Arab Spring democracy movement in Egypt, intent on breaking the inhumane Israeli
siege on Gaza, and permanently throwing open the
gates of the 'world's largest prison camp'."
Fowler said the big humanitarian convoy is "set to become the most important non-violent, international civilian
initiative to have a decisive, positive impact on history, since the Dunkirk evacuation in World War 11."
In 1940 a mass sea-convoy of over 700 little boats from Britain and Holland ferried thousands of Allied troops across
the English Channel, away from certain defeat in Nazi-occupied France.
Dunkirk is credited with turning around the allied war effort against Hitler.
The Kia Ora Gaza team will join the Viva Palestina6 land convoy travelling from London to Gaza in December.
"The opening up of the besieged Gaza Strip will be a major turning point towards peace and justice in Palestine. Until
there is peace in Palestine, there will be no peace in the Middle East.
And until there is peace in the Middle East, there will be no peace in the world" Fowler said.
Mr Fowler called on all fair-minded New Zealanders to support the mission.
