MANA demands NZ retain jury trials

Judges-go-under-microscope

MANA believes most NZers are not aware Government are destroying their legal right to a Jury trial.

Annette Sykes says: "MANA says cheap justice is no justice and the decision to eliminate our Jury trial system while the nations attention is on the Rugby World Cup is deplorable. A 2009 report found that our judges were idiosyncratic, arrogant, inflexible and not up to the job intellectually, how will NZers feel finding out that their legal future will be determined by one of these idiosyncratic, arrogant, inflexible and not up to the job intellectually Judges? A Jury trial is the right of every NZer, destroying it while the country's attention is elsewhere is unacceptable."
